Solenoid operated valve and method of making same

A solenoid operated valve (10) has first flux collector (38), bobbin (42) with coil (44) and an armature (50) assembled onto a valve body (12) with a tubular housing (60) received over the body (12) and first portions of the housing (60), in the form of tabs (70), deformed over the bobbin flange (68) to retain the assembly. A second flux collector (66) with adjustable pole piece (72) is then assembled adjacent the bobbin (42) and retained in place by deformation of second portions (78) of the housing (60). The pole piece (72) is accessible exteriorly for adjustment through the end of the housing (60).
