The output member is supported (17,18) for limited pivoting about the input member and spring means (25) are provided to resist this pivoting and thus provide a shock absorbing capability for the suspension. The spring means may be a fluid pressure spring and driver operated control means may be provided for controlling the pressure level in the spring to vary the stiffness of the spring for different operating conditions of the vehicle.",
