A fluid injector has a housing, a valve body and an actuator unit, that is inserted into the housing. The valve body comprises a cartridge with a recess, that takes in a needle (22). A receptance (221) is formed in the needle (22) and fixes a locking element (233) in an axial direction relative to the needle (22). A return spring (24) rests on the spring rest body (23) which is pretensioned in a way that it presses the spring rest body (23) against the locking element (233).
