The common rail fuel injector (1) is used in the engine of a road vehicle. It has a tapered cylinder (60) fitting inside an injector housing (10). It has a cylindrical bore accommodating a piston (30). The conical upper end of the piston (32,33) fits into a conical valve seat connected to a channel (20,21) with a ball valve (50) at the top.
