A bone anchoring component (1) has a shaft (2) for anchoring in a bone, where shaft comprises a section having barb components (7) that are arranged along a helical line(s) around the shaft axis. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a method of manufacturing the bone anchoring component, comprising providing a cylindrical body having a shaft axis; forming barb components along a helical line(s) around the shaft axis; and (2) a method of inserting a bone anchoring component having a first diameter into a bone, comprising preparing a core hole into a bone, where core hole has a diameter approximately the same as the first diameter; and inserting and sliding the bone anchoring component having pre-tensioned barb components into the core hole, where pre-tensioned barb components of the bone anchoring component press outwards against the core hole after insertion, and prevent the bone anchoring component from being pulled out of the core hole.
