Operating pedal device for automobile

An operating pedal device for an automobile, which is designed to suppress rearward movement of a depression portion (8a) of an operating pedal (8) caused by rearward movement of a dashboard (1a) upon a frontal collision of the automobile. An operating member (22) is opposed to a control lever (12) forward-rearward swingably supported on a dashboard (1a) or a pedal bracket (7) for supporting an operating pedal (8). The operating member (22) is supported on a steering hanger beam (1b) in the rear of the control lever (12) to swing the control lever (12) forward in response to rearward movement of the dashboard (1a) upon frontal collision of an automobile. The operating pedal (8) is provided with an engagement portion (16) to be brought into engagement with the control lever (12) upon forward swing of the control lever (12) to force forward swing of the operating pedal (8).
