The invention relates to a coated wire comprising a metal core and a thermoplastic coating. The thermoplastic coating has a gloss of less than 45 determined by using a reflectometer geometry of 60 DEG as specified in ISO method 2813. The thermoplastic coating has preferably a surface roughness determined by the Ra value higher than 0.15 mu m.
