A navigation apparatus includes a map display unit for displaying a map image of a region including a vehicle position of a vehicle, the map image including a vehicle-position image indicating the vehicle position, and a display changing unit for changing a display mode of the vehicle-position image when the vehicle-position image indicating the vehicle position is moved along a road, at a point where attention is to be paid while the vehicle is traveling. The map display unit includes a detailed-map drawing unit, a simple-map drawing unit, a display processor, and a display. The display changing unit includes a road-condition determining unit and a vehicle-position-image drawing unit.
