To provide a leg-protection device for a vehicle occupant, the leg-protection device including an airbag which inflates into a space below a steering column without being interfered with by a key chain or the like. A keyhole 4 is formed in the left side of a steering column cover 2, and a key chain 6 is hung from a key 5 inserted in the keyhole 4. An airbag 12 is provided with a projecting member 14 which projects from the top edge of the airbag 12 when the airbag 12 inflates. When the airbag 12 inflates along the bottom face of the steering column cover 2, the projecting member 14 comes into contact with the key chain 6 and pushes the key chain 6 upward before the airbag 12 comes into contact with the key chain 6.
