A vehicular transmission system (10) including a centrifugally operated master friction clutch (20) for drivingly coupling an engine (18) to an input shaft (28) of a mechanical transmission (12). The clutch (20) includes a resilient member (132) axially interposed between an axially movable plate (128) and a pressure plate for limiting the magnitude of the clamping force.
