Holding element for a vehicle, in particular for a motor vehicle

The holding component for a vehicle is in two parts with a wall section (2) and a mounting section (3). A projection (9) is formed on the mounting section and adjoins its edge region (8), with a functional component (16) such as a grab handle fitted on the projection. The mounting section and the wall section are interconnected in an overlap region (14) at at least one connecting point (23) in such a way that with a tensile force loading (20) of the functional component a support of the mounting section on the wall section takes place in the overlap region. With a compressive force loading oppositely directed to the tensile force loading the mounting section is lifted from the wall section in the overlap region, maintaining the connection at the connecting point.
