Vehicle lighting unit

The device has a light housing in which technical lighting equipment is arranged and a cover panel (2) closing the light outlet opening. The cover panel is directly joined to an adjacent connecting part (3) of the body in an edge region, whereby an edge element (6) of the cover panel or the connecting part engages a corresponding opening of the connecting part or cover panel. An insert element (17,18) is arranged in the residual joint to locate the edge element in the opening and to seal the joint externally.
