Device for measuring the distance between two vehicles

The device has an image sensor (1) that produces an image of a roadway. An image processor identifies, from the produced image, a characteristic zone of all or part of a mineralogical plate (13) of a road vehicle (2) that is separated from a vehicle (12) by a distance. The processor measures the dimension of the zone on the image and deduces the distance of the vehicle (12).
