Process for operating a heating device comprises feeding a total fuel mass flow to the heating device, feeding a first partial mass flow of the fuel mass flow to a first group of fuel outlet openings (241, 243), feeding a second partial mass flow to a second group of fuel outlet openings (242, 244), and measuring pressure vibrations in the heating device to determine at least one pressure vibration variable (p'BK). When a threshold value of the pressure vibration variable is exceeded, the first partial mass flow is reduced and the total fuel mass flow is held constant during changing of the first partial mass flow, thus affecting the distribution of the total fuel mass flow. Preferred Features: After a specified time the first partial mass flow is increased and the total fuel mass flow is held constant during changing of the first partial mass flow.
