Retractable roof rack for automotive vehicles and corresponding mounting method

The bar (23) has a cross piece (25) extending between two stands (24). The stands move parallel to the cross piece in a manner that the bar is placed in a retractable position and a portage position. The cross piece contacts with roof (22) of a vehicle in the retractable position and is raised with respect to the retractable position in the portage position. A bellow (26) is provided at an end (27) of the crosspiece.
