Elastic mount between two units and shock absorber with such a mount

The elastic joint (11), for mounting a piston rod (9) of a shock absorber at a vehicle chassis subject to oscillations in the Z-direction (Z), has an elastomer body (23) around it, e.g. of natural rubber, and a friction damper bonded to it of a more rigid material than the elastomer to couple it to the piston rod. The effect is to give a friction grip on low amplitude oscillations, and a sliding movement on high amplitude movements. Intermediate ring segments (33) are between the elastomer body and the friction surface, of a rigid plastics material reinforced with 30% glass fibers.
