The split bearing for an IC engine crankshaft is made from a light alloy. Each half-bearing contains an alloy-embedded insert (2) of a material with a higher modulus of elasticity. The bearing halves (1a, 1b) are bolted together and the bore for (4) the bolt passes through a concave section (5) of the insert.
