The sealing device includes a flat outer ring (9) fixed in the hatch (6) rim (6a) and adjoined inside by a cylindrical inner ring (10), slidable at right angles to the closing plane (22). Within the inner ring (10) is a sealing ring (11) so arranged that its top edge lies above outer and inner rings (9,10). Sliders (12) fitted round the inner ring (10) allow the ring to be slid from open into shut position so the top edge of the sealing ring (11) seals onto the underside of the closed hatch cover. The sealing ring (11) is vulcanized onto the fixer strip (10.1) on the inside of ring (10) and (11) has an outside sealing tab (11.1) to bridge the top edge of ring (10) and the join between ring (10) and outer ring (9) sealably to this ring (9). The slider consists of a hand-rotated plate (12.1) set below the inner ring (10) and facing this ring to form a rising wedge shape.
