April 27, 2005
A compression ratio altering device is for an engine with a cylinder block (1), cylinder head (1a), crankshaft (2) with crank (2b), reciprocating piston (4) and connecting rod (3) linked to a crankshaft journal (2c) at one end, and to the piston and the other. It has a flexible flow guide element (5) which can be controlled to change from one configuration to another extended one.
