A haptic input device for generating control information in order to control a device (50) connectable with the input device comprises an input element (1) which is able to assume at least two predetermined different shapes for at least two modes, wherein the input element (1) is in each mode actuable in order to generate an input signal, and a control unit (40) for generating a control information for the device (50) to be controlled, wherein the control information is based on the input signal received from the input element (1) and further depends on the actual mode of the input element (1).
