Attachment for an airbag

An airbag (2) is fastened to a structural member (12) of a motor vehicle. The airbag (2) has at least one strap (6) arranged on a border region of the airbag. The strap (6) has a portal (8) therethrough for receiving a hanger element (10) that is a part of the structural member (12) of the vehicle. The hanger element (10) projects at least partly through the portal (8) in the airbag strap (6). A fastener (14) is attached to the hanger element (10), so that the airbag (2) is arranged between the structural member (12) and the fastener (14). The airbag (2) may have a plurality of straps (6) and the portals (8) are arranged in pairs and the fastener (14) is a handle that extends through the portals (8) arranged in pairs.
