Control apparatus for variable capacity turbocharger

DRIVE March 16, 2005
Source
In a variable nozzle turbocharger (VNT) provided upstream of an exhaust gas filter (32), an exhaust gas flow path is formed in the direction of rotation of a turbine wheel (60) and so as to enclose the outer periphery of the turbine nozzle (60). A variable nozzle mechanism (71), which is a valve mechanism, is provided in this exhaust gas flow path. Opening and closing the variable nozzle mechanism (71) changes the exhaust gas flow path area, and thus the speed of the flow of the exhaust gas that strikes the turbine wheel (60). When the exhaust gas filter (32) is clogged, a limitation is placed on the amount that the flow path area is decreased.
