The invention relates to an engine for a vehicle, in particular a motorcycle, having a crankshaft and a generator driven by the crankshaft via a driven gear, and to a vehicle. The invention aims to provide an improved engine having a lower weight and allowing the position of the center of gravity of the vehicle to be lowered. The invention proposes that one axial end face of a rotor of the generator is coupled in an interlocking relation with the driven gear, and that the vehicle is provided with such an engine.
