The boxes (1) holding the front plate (5) and connected to the rear plate (6) have flanges bolted to these plates and are designed to crumple under load. There are pairs of flat plates (3) mounted on hinges (12) at the ends of the boxes. They form peaked roof structures and have stiffening flanges (14) at top and bottom. Spring- loaded wires (2) connect the two pairs of hinged plates together.
