The system has an inlet gas compressor (4) and an air-pressure protection valve (5) driven by an engine (1). A data processing unit (9) controls operation of a control valve (8). The control valve receives data relative to conditions of engine control in order to regulate pressure of inlet gas. The control valve maintains power supplied by the engine at a predetermined maximum threshold value.
