  "textContent": "A pump assembly for use in a compression ignition engine includes a plunger (2) that is reciprocable within a plunger housing (6) to pressurise fuel within a compression chamber (8). A first flow path (22) provides communication between the compression chamber (8) and a low pressure circuit (26, 28) to permit filling of the compression chamber (8), and is closed to fuel flow to initiate pressurisation of fuel within the compression chamber (8). A second flow path (40, 42) provides communication between the compression chamber (8) and the low pressure circuit (26, 28), and is opened to fuel flow to terminate pressurisation of fuel within the compression chamber after said closure the first flow path (22). The second flow path (40, 42) is provided with flow restriction means (44) to retard the rate of depressurisation of the compression chamber (8).",
