The engine has a charge air guiding connection channel (13) with a charge air cooler (14) formed by a cooling insert (15) in the connection channel between the low-pressure and high-pressure supercharger compressors (7, 4). In this sector (16), the connection channel wall (17) forms the external wall of the charge air compressor.
