Goods handling system

The invention relates to an improved goods storage system in a member of embodiments for a goods storage area in the form of a vehicle or railway trailer (2). The improvements allow the goods supporting base (40) to extend beyond externally of the goods storage area and allow the transportation of the goods to a from an external surface. In addition or alternatively, if the floor of the storage area has a number of different levels the base can be provided to be raised and lowered to the adjacent each of the different levels.
