A crosswise tie-bar (40) with a functional element (28) runs transversely across a motor vehicle's roof and slides on each side in guide devices (48) along the roof's length, where a center console (118) extends with its front end moving along the roof's length. A covering device stretches on each side of the console between the console and the roof's rim (16) on each side. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) An inside roof lining module for fixed mounting on the underside of a motor vehicle's roof; (b) and for a method for assembling a motor vehicle's roof.
