The device has a battery protection circuit (107a) stopping current, when current of a preset value or higher is output from a battery. A detection circuit detects current and voltage values of a preset circuit. A control circuit (108) executes an operation of the protection circuit and the stopping of supply of a current to the preset circuit, if the detected value of the detection circuit is outside a tolerance range. An independent claim is also included for a method for protecting an electronic device equipped with a battery protection circuit for stopping current when a battery outputs the current of a predetermined value or higher.
