Method and apparatus for regenerating a catalytic particulate filter

The procedure involves controlling fresh airflow supplied to a combustion engine during regeneration phase of a particle filter for a stable engine operating point. The flow is controlled on a predetermined variable set-point of time and the operating point. The operating point is determined by values of parameters including engine rotation speed, engine torque, vehicle speed and temperature of engine inlet gas. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling regeneration of particle filter of a motor vehicle.
