Intake air cooling system for a gas turbine engine
DRIVE
December 8, 2004
A cooling system (12) for a gas turbine engine (10) includes a compressor (14), a turbine (22) and a heat exchanger (46) coupled downstream from the compressor (14), such that compressed discharge air from the compressor (14) is routed through the heat exchanger (46). The heat exchanger (46) has a working fluid circulating within. A chiller (48) is coupled in flow communication to the heat exchanger (46) and extracts energy from the working fluid to facilitate reducing the temperature of inlet air channeled to the compressor (14).
