Method and apparatus for controlling the charging state in a mobile electronic device

The method involves entering a device charging state based on an input voltage. A central processing unit (12) in a mobile electronic device (10) is powered from the voltage. The unit receives power from a battery (16) and a universal serial bus host (22). An enumeration from the host is requested. A device suspend state is entered if an enumeration acknowledgement is not received from the host in a preset time period. An independent claim is also included for a mobile electronic device.
