Ignitor to be used in a protection device for vehicle occupants

The igniter has contact pins, which are provided in a pole body (12). The pole body can be surrounded by pole body rings. A sleeve (14) is adjacent to either the pole body or its rings, accommodates an ignition agent (16) and has a lid (22). The pole body and the sleeve or the pole body ring and the sleeve are formed in one piece.
