Apparatus for improving a vehicle start-stop operation

The device has an energizing winding (1) associated with the starter-generator of the automobile and coupled to the onboard network, a control unit (7) controlling the current through the energizing winding and stator windings coupled to the onboard network via a switched current converter (UR). The position of the energizing winding in the stop phase of the start-stop operation of the engine is detected by a sensor unit (6) coupled to the control unit which provides control signals for the current converter switches (S1,..S6) for initiating starting.
