Navigation device

A navigation device (15) is provided with a communication portion (58) that is capable of communication with a server that distributes data, and a data storage portion (16) that stores data downloaded from the server. When start-up of the vehicular navigation device is initiated, communication with the server is executed and data is downloaded prior to the completion of start-up.
