Device for supplying electrical energy to a vehicle

The vehicle contains an on-board electrical system with an accumulator battery (10) and a solar generator (20) with which the accumulator battery can be charged, including when the engine is off. The solar generator is designed to hold the charge state of the battery below a defied upper limit in a first charge mode with the engine off, whereby the limit is below the maximum capacity of the battery.
