Vehicle with a bumper and a deformation element

The vehicle has a bumper bar fastened at right angles to the vehicle's longitudinal direction via a deformation element (28) which has a support housing (32) with a front (34) and a rear (38) wall, and two spaced apart walls (42,44) connecting the front and rear walls. Installed in the support housing is at least one composite plate (46) consisting of a honeycomb core (48) lined with cover plates (50,52) on both sides, with the cell axis of the core perpendicular to the cover plates. The cover plates lie against the front and rear walls, and the core is predeformed by a compression in the direction of the cell axis.
