Stanchion system for a railway vehicle.

The stanchion system has stanchions (1) which can move between an upright use position, in which they can be locked, and a folded-flat position. When they are in the use position, the stanchions are supported all the way round by stanchion shoes above their turning bolts. The shoes can be moved along and can be fixed in position and released.
