The method comprises the following steps: detecting a signal representing pressure pulses in the intake manifold (26,27,28) from the pressure sensor (11), calculating average values for the amplitudes of the inlet pressure signal over a predetermined number of cycles (nc), comparing the calculated value and a reference value and generating a difference signal, and generating a signal indicative of the state of the induction system.",
