In order to increase a smoke limit fuel injection amount (QAFM), an EGR smoke limit correction value (QAFMegr) is calculated considering an oxygen amount in EGR gas (S200 to S214), and a final smoke limit fuel injection amount (QAFMfin) is set by increasing the smoke limit fuel injection amount (QAFM) by the EGR smoke limit correction value (QAFMegr) (S216). Thus, when there is a request for acceleration, a larger amount of fuel can be injected than when the smoke limit fuel injection amount (QAFM) is used. As a result, acceleration performance can be improved without decreasing an amount of the EGR gas while suppressing generation of smoke.
