The mass of exhaust gas is determined, in a volume (20) between an engine (1) exhaust valve (25) and a turbine (5) of the exhaust gas turbocharger (5, 10, 15). Pressure after the exhaust valve is determined from the mass of exhaust gas, using the universal gas equation. An independent claim is included for corresponding equipment.
