The present invention provides a thermally expandable material expandable from a compressed state by heat, which comprises a form material comprising a crosslinked rubber having impregnated with a crystalline thermoplastic resin and which is compressed. Also disclosed are a joint material and a soundproof cover for an automobile engine, each comprising the thermally expandable material.
