Negative-type display device with uniform colour and method of producing such a device

The device has front and back substrates (3,4) fixed on each other by sealing frames (7, 7), and liquid crystals (6) filling a space between the substrates and frames. An additional layer (8) has same color as that of the device in an inactive state, viewed in an observation direction. The layer extends on the substrate (4) to attenuate the frames visibility and to standardize the device color in the observation direction. An independent claim is also included for a display device manufacturing process.
