Arrangement and method for automatically disengaging a manual operator for an electric parking brake

A parking brake operated by an electric motor (10) has a manual operator (30,32,38,42) including a flexible cable core (52) drivable with a tool to allow drive gearing driven by the electric motor (10), but which is disengaged from a driving connection to the gearing whenever the electric motor (10) is energized by also energizing a solenoid (56) shifting a coupling to a disconnected position.
