An injection opening is at least half a cylinder radius from the ignition device. The engine has at least one combustion chamber (1) with direct petrol injection radially bounded by a cylinder and with a cylinder head (2) with 2 inlet valves (3,3') with valve shafts (4,4'), two exhaust valves (5,5') with valve shafts (6,6'), ignition (7) and injection (8) devices between the gas exchange valves and an at least partly common induction air inlet channel. The inlet and exhaust valve shafts span respective planes essentially parallel to a longitudinal internal combustion engine axis. At least one additional air feed channel opens into the inlet channel and an injection opening (8a) of the injection valve is at least half a cylinder radius from the ignition device.",
