Method for determining the linear expansion of a piezoelectric actuator

An amount of charge attached to a piezoelectric actuator (2) is determined in the actuator's operating points along with the voltage applied on the actuator. Lengthwise stretch in the actuator and force acting on the actuator are compared with preset threshold values.
