Preparation of cellular or compact polyurethane molding involves mixing isocyanate (C1) and polyol component (C2) to form polyurethane mixture; molding; registering pressure of (C1) and (C2); transmitting to monitoring device; comparing transmitted pressure with reference pressure; and signaling malfunction in the event that at least one of measured pressures deviates from corresponding reference pressure profile beyond predetermined tolerance threshold. Preparation of a cellular or compact polyurethane molding involves: (A) conveying at least one isocyanate component (C1) and at least one polyol component (C2) by a metering machine into a mixing head via component lines; (B) mixing (C1) and (C2) in a mixing chamber to form a polyurethane reaction mixture; (C) discharging the reaction mixture from the mixing chamber into a mold; (D) registering pressure of (C1) and (C2) by a pressure transducer in each of the component lines; (E) transmitting the pressure registered to a monitoring device; (F) comparing the transmitted pressure with corresponding reference pressure values stored in the monitoring device; and (G) signaling a malfunction in the event that at least one of the measured pressures deviates from the corresponding reference pressure profile beyond a predetermined tolerance threshold.
