The atmospheric pressure is detected from an intake pressure immediately before intake stroke, and the pressure difference between fuel pressure fed to an injector and intake pressure is determined. A fuel injection coefficient (Q t) is calculated by dividing the fuel injection time coefficient (Q t0) per unit mass by the square root (P 1>>2>) of injection fuel pressure, for computing fuel injection time for achieving desired air-fuel ratio.
