Pulsed combustion device with distributed ignition
DRIVE
July 7, 2004
Distributed initiation (e.g., multipoint or continuous) is utilized to obtain constant volume-like combustion performance in a pulse combustion device (20) in the absence of detonation. A number of such devices (20) may be utilized as turbine engine combustors. The device comprises, in one embodiment, a tube (22) having a valve (30) for admitting gas to the tube, and a plurality of igniters (32) spaced along the tube.
